my 1st primary school

This school was built in 1935 on a parcel of land in the village area of 4:05 hectares Toboh, Tambunan, Sabah. The Land the school stands on was donated by Mr. Bondulu Sambatang and Timuk Matigal The Native Chief Of Toboh and whom asked " Fr John Quinn" in 1932 from St.Teresa's,Tambunan to open a school in this area. At first the School building was only made of logs and bamboo only. Several years later, the building materials and roof boards had been replaced with Zing. Now it is constructed of concrete and wood, which as been partially modified permanently.The school classrooms are equipped with various facilities including general office,teachers room, school resource room, science room, life skills room, music room and most of them are permanently modified.On opening the school only had four students and accepted only male students.The school was known as' St. John School. In 1938, 'The Convent Immaculate Conception School, founded by Sister White this school was for girls only. In 1969, male students from Primary 5 St. John was promoted to Primary 6 in 'The Immaculate Conception Convent School.These two schools merged in 1970 and were known as the National Type Primary School (SRJK) St. David, Toboh,Tambunan. Beginning that year, the school accepted boys and girls. The first teacher was Sister M. Caramel who served from 1970 to 1981 (11 years). In 1982 the school name was changed to the National Primary School (SRK) St. David, Toboh . Rapid changes and developments in education, once the school's name changed in 1997, which was replaced with the National School (SK) St. David, Toboh,Tambunan.





This is a Missionary school and its founder and first Headmaster (1935-1947) was Reverend. "Fr John Quinn"(1901-1983) a Mill Hill Jesuit Missionary born in Stockport Cheshire England and Ordained a Jesuit Priest in 1924 in Mill Hill London.The Land donated to "Fr John Quinn" is in areas where the convent and the needy home was built.That's why The Needy Childrens Home is named Bondulu's Needy Children's Home.
